Die-cut stickers
Die-Cut Stickers, Cut to Your Shape
A die-cut sticker is cut to the outline of the design, not to a square with the design sitting inside it. That is the only cut style we make, and this page explains how the cut line is decided and what you can change about it.
Minimum order: 10 stickers or $10.
The cut
Why the shape matters
It is the difference between a sticker of your logo and a sticker with your logo on it.
A rectangular sticker always reads as a rectangle first. The eye sees the block of material, then the artwork inside it. A die-cut sticker removes that block entirely, so what lands on the laptop lid or the toolbox is the shape you designed and nothing else.
It also changes how people use them. A cut-to-shape logo sits naturally against the curve of a water bottle or the corner of a hard hat, where a rectangle fights the surface and lifts at the corners.
Practically, it means you do not have to design around a frame. If your artwork has an interesting silhouette, that silhouette is the product.
What we need from you
- One design per sticker line
- A transparent background, or one we can remove for you
- Enough resolution for the printed size, or vector art, which has no limit
- Your intended width and height in inches
The artwork guidelines go through each of those in detail, including what to do when you do not have the original file.
How it works
Six things to know about the cut
All of this is set in the configurator, and none of it costs extra.
The contour comes from your file
We build the cut path from the outline of your artwork. A round badge is cut round. A mascot with an arm sticking out is cut around the arm. You do not need to supply a cut line yourself.
The border is an offset, not a frame
Turn the border on and the cut line steps outward from your artwork by a set distance, leaving a clean margin all the way around. Thicknesses available: Small, Medium, Large.
The border can be any color
White is the default because it reads as a sticker edge on almost any surface, but you can pick from 11 presets or type a custom hex value. Black around a dark logo and a brand color around a wordmark both work well.
Background and border are different things
The background fills the area behind your artwork, inside the shape. The border sits outside the shape and moves the cut line. You can use one, both or neither.
Very fine detail gets rounded
A cut path cannot follow a hair-thin spike or a one-pixel gap. Where the outline has detail finer than the blade can hold, the path smooths it. This is the main thing our artwork review flags, because it is easier to adjust before printing than to explain afterwards.
One sticker per piece
Every piece comes off as an individual sticker, ready to peel. If you need several different designs, order them as separate lines and we will cut each to its own shape.
Materials
Three finishes for a die-cut sticker
The cut is the same on all three. What changes is how the surface behaves in light.
Glossy White Vinyl
Smooth white vinyl with a glossy finish. Colors print bright and saturated, and the surface has a clean reflective sheen that makes artwork pop.
Matte White Vinyl
Smooth white vinyl with a flat, non reflective finish. Colors read a little softer than glossy, glare is very low, and the surface has a subtle paper like look up close.
Holographic Vinyl
A rainbow holographic film under the print. Light and unprinted areas catch the light and shift color as the sticker moves, while dark solid areas stay solid. Best on artwork that leaves some open space.
Not sure which finish suits your artwork? Say so in the notes when you order, or call before you place it. Holographic behaves differently from the white stocks: the effect shows through lighter and unprinted areas and disappears under heavy dark solids, so it rewards designs that leave some open space.
Sizes and runs
Small runs are the point
Anything up to 500 pieces prices instantly. Above that, a person quotes it.
Die-cutting is usually where a sticker order gets expensive, because a traditional shop has to make a physical die for your shape and then charges you for it. We do not, and there is no setup fee, plate fee or per-color fee anywhere in the price on this site.
That is what makes a run of ten worth doing. A local band, a food truck, a school club and a two-person business all need a small number of a specific shape, and paying a die charge on ten pieces never made sense.
Minimum order: 10 stickers or $10.
Whichever one you reach first. Ten small stickers qualify even if they total less than ten dollars, and one larger sticker qualifies on value alone.
It means the sticker is cut to the shape of the design instead of to a rectangle. If your logo is a circle, the finished sticker is a circle. If it is a mascot, the finished sticker is the mascot. There is no square of leftover material around the edge.
No. It is a choice, and it is free either way. A border gives the sticker a defined edge and is useful when your design has thin extremities or when the artwork colors are close to the surface it will be stuck on. If your design already has a heavy outline of its own, you probably do not need one.
Yes. White is the default. You can pick from 11 preset colors or enter your own hex value, and there is no charge for either.
No. We generate the contour from your artwork. If you have a specific cut path in mind that does not simply follow the outline, put it in the order notes and we will look at it during artwork review.
Neither side goes below 1 inch. That is a production limit. Below an inch, the cut path around most artwork stops being reliable and fine detail in the design stops being readable.
Usually, yes. Long thin shapes, shapes with holes in the middle, and shapes with narrow connecting sections are all possible, but they behave differently on the cutter. Send the file and we will tell you during review if the shape needs an adjustment.
