Accessibility Statement

Our position

Long Island Stickers should be usable by everybody who wants to order stickers, including people using a screen reader, a keyboard rather than a mouse, magnification, speech input, or a browser with reduced motion or high contrast switched on.

We are working to the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2, Level AA as our target. We are not claiming full conformance, because no independent audit has been carried out. Saying otherwise would be easy and it would not be true.

What is built in

• Semantic HTML. Real headings in order, real lists, real tables with header cells, and real landmark regions, so assistive technology can navigate the page structure rather than guessing at it.
• One h1 per page, with a heading outline that does not skip levels.
• A skip link to the main content, which appears as soon as you press Tab.
• Visible focus on everything interactive. Every link, button and form control shows a clear focus ring, including on dark surfaces and in Windows high contrast mode.
• Labelled form fields. Every input has a real, visible, associated label. There are no placeholder-only fields anywhere, and error messages are announced rather than only colored red.
• Keyboard support in components. The mobile menu traps focus while open, closes on Escape and returns focus to the button that opened it. Accordions follow the expected arrow key, Home and End behavior.
• Touch targets of at least 44 by 44 pixels on buttons, links and controls.
• Contrast. Text and interface colors were chosen against measured contrast ratios rather than by eye, and the measurements are recorded in the source next to the color values.
• Reduced motion. If your system asks for reduced motion, animations and the decorative sticker effects hold still.
• Content without JavaScript. Our address, phone number, prices, policies and guidance are in the HTML. If scripts fail to load, the information you need in order to contact us is still on the page.
• Text that scales. The layout uses relative units, so browser zoom and larger default text sizes do not break it.

Known limitations

Being straight about the parts we are least confident in:

• The sticker configurator is visual by nature. It shows a live preview of a shape, a border and a background. We have worked to make every control keyboard operable and properly labelled, and to describe the current configuration in text, but a visual preview cannot be made fully equivalent for a screen reader user. If the configurator is a barrier for you, call us on 631-458-3842 and we will take the order and describe the options to you directly.
• Uploaded artwork has no alternative text. A preview of a file you uploaded cannot be described by us, because we do not know what it depicts until a person looks at it.
• The payment step is a third-party component. Card entry is rendered by Square, and its accessibility is Square's to maintain rather than ours. If you hit a problem there, tell us and we will find another way to take your order.
• No formal audit has been done. Everything above reflects deliberate construction and internal testing, not an independent assessment.

Telling us the page, what you were trying to do, and what happened instead makes it much faster to fix. If you can also mention the browser and any assistive technology you were using, that helps, but do not let the absence of that stop you reporting it.
